Handmade gifts...

I think I have done handmade gifts for the kids teachers for the past few years now.  Last year I had a ton of stuff left over from the Cecil Floyd craft show so they picked out matching sets of Makeup bags, checkbook covers, mini zips and key fobs.  I didn't make anything specifically for the teachers though.  This year they helped by picking out the color zipper they wanted first, then they picked out fabric to match and I made these zip pouches.  These are for the boys teachers

And these are for Bailey's teachers.

I used denim from a stack of old jeans that I have been saving for ages.  The lining of each pouch matches the little cut out.  I hope they like them!  Yesterday I also made a microwaveable heating pad and then Bailey wanted something for 2 of her friends and so I made up 2 of the mini zip pouches for her since we didn't have time to go out and get anything in time for her to take today.  I still have a few things that I need to get made up this week.  I probably need to work on those today!

The kids only have 1/2 of school today then they are out until 1/3/12, that means that I am off work until at least then too!  My goal over this break is to get my house really clean, that's my only goal really.  It's just a disaster area and it's driving me nuts.  I have all this sewing stuff everywhere and it's time to get it put away.  At least the stuff I won't be using for awhile.  I have the bins to put it in I just have to find the time to get it done.  I want to use my kitchen table for dinner again...right now you can't even see it!  I will still be sewing but probably not every day and not all day long for sure.

I am getting ready to embark on a year long quilt project with a group of friends.  We are deciding on a sampler book and then we are going to work on sampler blocks together, a couple a week, in 2012.  I want to make a sampler quilt for my bed which is a king size so I am going to have to make a bunch of blocks.  I will do more than one a week probably, but the goal is at least one block a week.  It's going to be Heather (A La Mode), Lisa (Madame Cupcake), Amanda (hey porkchop!) and if we can talk her into giving it a try, Nikki Beaudreau.  Nikki is a digital scrap designer and we have plans to get her in on our sewing fun too!

Speaking of sewing I got this little beauty in the mail from Heather yesterday!  I stole her picture for it since it's way better than the one I took.

It's SO cute and it's much bigger than it looks in the picture.  I have plans to learn to knit in 2012 and this is going to be my knitting project bag...it's just the right size!

Ok, it's time for me to see if I can track down enough coffee to make at least one cup...then I have to get ready for school Christmas parties.  Have a wonderful day!
