Movie Marathon starts tonight!

Jake and I haven't watched a movie in what seems like forever, but he has a 4 day weekend so we are going to be watching a lot of movies this weekend.  Here is a list of what we are going to try to knock out this weekend

  • Mission Impossible 1-4
  • The Immortals
  • The Sitter
Ok, that seemed like more before I started listing them!  Technically it's still 6 movies though so that's plenty for one weekend I think.  I also have to work tomorrow so I can't stay up too late tonight.

Here a couple Instagram pics from the last couple days...

My pretty French Pedicure...my toes are way too chubby though!

I snagged these new polishes from Walgreens today for $1 each, gotta love a good deal like that.

I like to take pictures of books that I want to look up for my Kindle and this George RR Martin is going on my "to read soon" list!  I have been reading Amanda Hocking books for about almost 3 years now and I love them...it's SUPER cool to see them in print through a big time publisher!

I LOVE finding avocados for so cheap...I got 4 to make guacamole with this weekend.

Well, I am off to paint my nails while Jake and the kids finish watching something, then I get to decide what movie to watch tonight!

Have a great evening...

I finally found it....

My new favorite nail polish, that is!  If you know me at all or have read any of my Facebook or Blog posts you know that I have struggled to find a good nail polish.  One that will last more than 24 hours and doesn't chip or peel, etc...  Well, I think I have found one and I have a new favorite color just in time for fall/winter!  The nail polish is Revlon of all things.  It's a bit pricey if you can't find it on sale, but I got a good deal at Walgreens last week when they marked it down to  $3.99.  I had a $1 off coupon and ended up getting a $3.00 Register Reward on top of that so it ended up being free!  I picked up a bottle of #909, Sheer Petal.  Normally I gravitate toward the brighter colors, but since it was a Walgreens special the shelves were pretty bare, thanks in NO small part to the lady at the cosmetics counter with literally the entire counter covered with stacks of coupons and baskets upon baskets of products all separated out into small transactions!  She had a nice hoard of these polishes.  I will have to do a whole separate post on this type of couponing!  Anyway, I browsed the nearly empty shelf and picked out my polish, oh and did I mention that this was only Sunday afternoon so the sale had pretty much just started!  I painted my nails with it last week and although it took about 4 coats to get the color I wanted it lasted me about 3-4 days, which in my book is a WIN on wear.  A note about the color, I realize it's supposed to be a sheer, but I wanted a nice light pink color that's why all the coats.

Now, here is my new favorite color, which I also picked up at Walgeens using a RR from a previous purchase so it was also free in the end.  It's #570, Vixen and it's AWESOME!  I had to do 3 coats to get a nice dark color, but it's so pretty!  I totally stole this picture from here, but only because her nails are so much prettier than mine are. (By the way you should totally check out her blog, she has tons of cool photos, fashions, etc... on there!)  I am going through a grow out stage from where I had artificial nails that I did myself and so my thumb nails have these weird ridges in them that are almost grown out to the end.  Since they are almost grown out they have been splitting and cracking where those ridges are and I have been keeping them cut all the way to the quick so they don't cause more damamge.

So, I think this is going to be my new go to color in place of black this fall!  I don't know if I talked about the top coat I have been using, but I just ordered 2 more bottles of it so I don't come so close to running out again.  I have been using Seche Vite and I LOVE it!  You put it on before the nails dry and it somehow penetrates through all the layers of polish and completely hardens them.  They are dry to the touch in just minutes and completely hard in less than 10 minutes.  This is a great product for someone like me, who ends up having to re-do my polish every couple of days.  The only draw back is that it starts to get thick after awhile, but Seche has created a Restore product that you just drop in the bottle and roll it around and it restores the topcoat to it's original consistency.  I had to add a bottle of this to my stash as well.  I have ordered my Seche products from Amazon because I have founds great deals on them, but I know that Sally carries the Top Coat in their stores.

Well, Bailey got her top braces on yesterday and this is what they look like complete with green bands!  Green is her favorite color so I am sure we will be seeing that color bands quite a bit.  Her mouth is sore today, but it from the pressure not the brackets scraping.  She has the wax, but she hasn't really had to use it on the brackets just on the backs where the little part of the wire sticks out.  I remember that being where I used the most wax when I had mine too.  I can't believe I have a child old enough to have braces...In a couple of years we will be doing this all over again for both boys!  Apparently they got the crowded mouth from me!

Well, I have tons of work to do, but I am also running out of everything and waiting for hardware to get here.  I  am going to get as much done as I can and then start cutting out bags so I will be ready for when all my stuff starts coming in the mail.

Have a great day!!

Some odds and ends...

This is just going to be a random post full of all the odds and ends that have been going on here lately.  It's been so long since I had a regular post that I need to catch up!

{ Pink Punk }
I feel like I have been on kind of a vacation.  I had a couple of weeks where I only got a couple of new orders so when I caught up to that point my work slowed down.  It's been kind of nice though.  I have 2 older orders (less than a month, but older than the rest) that needed embroidery but one of the places I take embroidery to was pretty much destroyed in the tornado and the other one was without power for a couple days.  I was able to take it in the beginning of this week so it's ready to pick up this morning.  I was also waiting on a big fabric order that was delayed a day or so because of the holiday on Monday.  I got it yesterday evening and I have it almost all pre-washed and ready to go.  So, I will be back to my regular work today!  In the meantime here is what I have been working on.

 I made these fabric boxes to store all my smaller bits of fabric so I can find and use it!

I drafted and tested a pattern for a makeup brush roll...

 Then I used up some of my smaller bits of fabric to make all of these Makeup Brush Rolls and I put them in my store.  They are all done and ready to ship.

 I know you probably know how much I love nail polish...well I needed something to put all my most used polishes in.  I sketched out this bigger size fabric tray last night and whipped it up in no time out of 2 fat quarters.  Isn't it pretty?!!  I am going to make some smaller ones to put on my dresser for earrings and other smaller things.  I may even make some to put my sewing stuff in...

{ Home Stuff }
The kids got out of school 2 weeks early because so many of the district schools were damaged or destroyed in the tornado.  It's been a LONG 2 weeks and at this rate it's going to be an even longer summer.   When they are all 3 together they do not get along most of the time.  Pretty much any combination of 2 is good and they get along and play good, but add that 3rd one in and they are at each others throats.  We are going to have to figure out something though....

We are trying to eat at home as much as we can this summer.  It's getting to the point that it's just way too expensive for us to all eat out so I am cooking more and more.  During the school year since they eat 2 meals at school we don't spend nearly as much on groceries, but Jake and I were eating out almost every day for lunch so really we were spending the same amount if not more!  So, the kids and I sat and came up with what we wanted to eat all week, we made a list and shopped.  My dishwasher is working overtime and I haven't cooked this much in a long time, but in the long run we are saving....I think!

{ Entertainment }
I started watching Stargate: Atlantis a couple weeks ago and I can't stop!  I am halfway through season 4 now and there are 5 seasons so I am almost done.  I think it's because I have been watching so many of them at night that I haven't really read anything for awhile.  It's been almost 2 weeks since I have read anything on my Kindle.  It's the longest I have gone without reading for probably 3 years!  It could also be because I was in between books and I wasn't really into anything.  I will get back into it though, I can't go too long without reading!

Jake and I just finished Season 2 of Justified too.  We will probably start a new series this weekend, probably Shameless, we have been hanging on to that one and it won't take us too long to get through it since it's only one season.  I am itching to start Deadwood though so I can get my Timothy Olyphant fix!

Well, I need to get ready to go pick up my embroidery before Jake has to leave for work at 11:30.  Have a great weekend!

Busy week off to a good start...

Well, my day yesterday didn't actually go as I had planned but I still ended up getting a lot done.  I had planned to start on a big order and work on it over the next few days. but when I got to it I realized that I still needed some information from the customer in order to get started.  While I was waiting for computer dimensions from her I decided to start on another order and I ended up getting it all done yesterday!  I was able to clear off 2 orders (both for the same customer).  This is what I finished up...it's a Kira Purse, a Trina DSLR Bag and 2 Netbook/Mini Sleeves.  I am LOVING the fabric on these too.  She gave me a list of fabrics that she liked and gave me free reign to mix and match them how I liked and I think they turned out great and very springy!

I also have a mini zip bag for her order, but I didn't get it in the photos for some reason.  So today I plan to start the big order, but I have to make a run to Joanns to pick up more fleece, pink thread, pink ribbon and a couple of zippers so that I have everything I need to get it all done without having to make an emergency run to town!

I don't know if you know this about me but I am obsessed with nails, nail polish and finding some top coat that will actually make it so that I don't have to re-paint my nails every other day!  I have been wearing artificial nails for about 5 weeks, up to last weekend anyway, and it was time to give my nails a breather.  I have just been using the pre-french mani ones you get at Target and doing them myself.  It seems like when I wear these for more than a week or two, when I take them off my nails are all full of ridges and they just look crappy.  I know that it's because of the glue and no air and all that, but they look so pretty when they are on!  Anyway, I was wearing black polish last week, it's definitely my go to color but I decided I wanted a more spring look.  So this is what I did on Saturday evening.  I don't know if  you have ever used OPI Rapid Dry topcoat, but when you first use it it's wonderful.  It has a great wide brush, it's smooth and if you put it on about 2 minutes after your 2nd color coat it dries hard in about 5 minutes.  After you use about half the bottle it's pretty much crap!  The brush isn't long enough to go to the bottom of the bottle and it gets all gunky, it strings out and is NOT smooth so basically you have paid $8 (low end of the price range) for something that you can only use 1/2 of then you have to toss it!  So, this is where I was with my OPI so I pulled out this old bottle of Signature something or other.  It's a nail hardner, but it dries really fast so I used it as a top coat!  Now I have had this bottle for at least 3 years, but it went on great and dried fast and it's Tuesday and I have no chips in my polish!  I am sure I have jinxed myself now, but so far so good...I took that picture yesterday.  The only thing I am not loving is the brush strokes that I seem to get with the lighter colors, it was mostly the blue and yellow.  I am sure it's the polish brand, as you can see from the picture all the colors are a different brand, but I always get this with any light color polish.  I usually have to do at least 3 coats to get it to look decent and then it's so thick it ends up peeling off in one piece!  Anywho....that's my nail story!  Here is some of where I am getting my color inspiration lately
