Let's talk True Blood

We are 2 weeks into the season now so I guess I need to post about it.  Here are my random thoughts on what's going on so far this season.

  • I am now over the fact that the show is so much different than the books!
  • There needs to be WAY more Alcide this season.
  • I do NOT like that they saved Tara by turning her, I think LaLa had it right when he tried to stake her on Episode 2.
  • I like Terry, but he is weirder this season than usual!
  • I do NOT like that it's been 2 episodes now and Sookie hasn't been in a single scene with Eric OR Bill.
  • I like that Lucy Griffiths (Marian from Robin Hood) is playing Eric's "sister".
  • I don't like that he completely forgot about Sookie when he saw her!
  • I don't like the whole Authority story line.
  • I do like that Peter Menseh (Doctore/Oenomaus from Spartacus) is on the show!
  • What happened to Jesus' body?
  • I don't like "in charge" Jessica.
  • I am sick of Hoyt blaming Jason for what happened with Jessica.  I know bro's before ho's and all that, but Hoyt made his decision when he threw her out.
  • Where is Alcide in this picture?
  • I have to post one of him to make up for it!

So, what do you think of the new season so far?

TWO MORE DAYS!!

I want to buy one of these but I can't decide which one to get...

I feel like I am going to have to go with the Joe (Alcide) one because I already have so many with Alexander...

I am anxious to see how they handle the Tara thing...I have never cared for her character so I am hoping she will just be gone, but I don't think they will just kill her off like that.  What do you think they will do with her?

True Blood

The last book, which I read yesterday, was a pretty big disappointment so this is what I am looking forward to...

To Do List Tuesday!

I haven't made myself a to do list in ages, but maybe that's what I need so that I actually manage to get something done!  Yesterday I got such a late start that I ended up not really getting much done.  I think that when I get up earlier I am not dragging all day long even though I get less sleep.  SO, no more weekday sleeping in for me, even on Mondays!

Here is my To Do list for today
  1. Finish and actually put laundry away.
  2. Clean both bathrooms.
  3. Get Mary's order packed and in the mail (I did actually get this one finished yesterday!).
  4. Sew the button on Kristy's Wallet, send to work with Jake.
  5. Cut and sew 2 iPad Sleeves, a coupon clutch, a Nook sleeve and a Kindle sleeve.
  6. Start cutting an Izzy Purse and a Messenger Purse (I may need more fleece to finish these).
I don't want to overwhelm myself so I am going to stop there!  I will mark these off as I complete them though to keep myself on track.

So, what did you think of Castle last night?  As much as I like Victor Webster, Kate's doctor boyfriend, I was glad that she finally ended it with him.  I am not as happy that she lied and told Richard that she didn't remember him telling him that he loved her because we all know that she loves him too.  I hate it when a series does this though, they just drag it out (ie. X-Files) for so long that you end up hating them both by the 7th(ish) season because they just can't get it together!  Next week it looks like they are back to the funny/witty Castle that we all know and love so that makes me happy.

Glee starts tonight!  My kids are excited even though I don't really let them watch the show...weird, I know.  Colton especially, loves the singing so I watch the show, then the next day I will let them watch all the singing stuff.  For me, there is just too much adult content for them to watch the actual story lines.  They know that Kurt likes boys, but I don't feel like they are ready to actually see him kissing Blaine or hear his dad talking to him about sex, etc.... I am just not ready to cross that bridge quite yet.  For now, they are happy just skipping through to watch the singing.  For the record, I feel the same way about the conversations about sex with any of the characters not just the Kurt/Blaine relationship.  Blaine is actually my favorite character on the show, that boy can sing for me any day at all!  Who is your favorite Glee character?

Any True Blood fans out there?  I know it's been over a week, but what did you think of the finale?  That was CRAZY, wasn't it?!  We all know that Russell is back and will be on next season.  What about Tara?  My theory is, either Bill or Eric will swoop in and bring Tara back, maybe even turn her.  So she will either be indebted to a vampire for saving her life or she will become the thing she hates.  Debbie Pelt is GONE and good riddance for sure. So is Nan, but she was becoming a huge annoyance as well.   I think we will see Jesus again, if only through Lafayettes ghost eyes.  I am a huge Eric/Sookie shipper, but I really would like to see her with Alcide at some point in this next season.  He deserves to have some happiness, don't you think?  I don't know...I just hate waiting 9 months for each season...it's too long!

Well, I guess I should get to work if I am going to get anything marked of my list today!  Have a good one!

Tomorrow is the day...

The day that Bailey gets her top braces on.  She is getting nervous, but thankfully, she doesn't get sick like Colton does when it comes to stuff like this.  I think once we get her there and they get started she will be fine.  They are only doing the top and then in a couple months they will do the bottom.  I remember when I got mine, I was pregnant with Colton so it wasn't that long ago, but I can't remember if they waited on the bottom ones or not.  I hate that she is missing part of a day of school, but I think this early in it will be okay.

I don't really have much of anything else to write about!  I am getting ready to get started working, I have a couple things I need to finish up that I started on Saturday.  We had a Birthday Party on Saturday afternoon and a church get together that night so I got started on some things but didn't get everything done.  I also need to finalize my schedule for this week.  I have 2 shipments of fabric coming from Fabric.com today.  I ordered them several days apart, but for some reason they shipped them both on the same day in separate shipments!

I hate to leave you without a picture today so I am going to show you what is on my desktop currently...by the way he has a birthday in just a couple days!

Have a great day!

I am a bad blogger...

I really am!  Jake was on vacation all last week and we pretty much just stayed home all week.  It has been HOT here, record setting hot, so we stayed in the house much of the time!  We did re-watch all the Harry Potter movies in anticipation of the last one coming out this weekend.  I think we are going to take Bailey to see it, the boys didn't do so well just sitting and watching them at home so I am not going to take a chance and spend the money for them to see it in the theater.  Hopefully Jake won't have to work on Friday night so we can see it then.

I am the bad mom who didn't take ANY pictures on 4th of July...NONE!  I am usually the one who takes the camera to the get together and I spend the whole time taking pictures and not really doing anything else so this year I decided not to take my camera.  Let's face it, I still haven't mastered the fireworks shot and once it starts to get dark all the pictures are crap anyway.  SO, I had much more fun sitting with my feet in the pool talking to Joan about books, and True Blood, and running off to LA to sit at Joan's on Third in the hopes that we could get a peek at Alexander Skarsgard eating lunch some day!  It's not like I have scrapped any of my pictures in the last 2 years anyway!  I would rather be interacting with people than running around taking less than stellar pictures...

Speaking of Alexander...we have seen 3 episodes of True Blood now, I am not so unhappy as I was after the first episode.  I did not like the whole Faerie thing, they really shot the whole Fae story in the foot with that, then they finished it off last night by having Eric kill Claudine.  She was never right anyway, so I wasn't sad to see her go, but I am a little disappointed that they really ruined any chance of bringing in the Grandfather.  That really was Alan Ball saying that he has no intention of sticking to the book story line or that he doesn't plan to ever take the series that far.  I do like that they are keeping with the Eric amnesia story, but I don't care for how they did it.  I don't like the whole witch/brujo (?) storyline that they have created.  It would take me hours, though, to tell you all the things that I don't like about how they have changed the stories for the show so I will spare you all that and just say that I am enjoying the show for what it is, but I will always like the books much better!

Since Jake is going back to work tonight I will be able to watch the new season premiere of Torchwood.  I have been waiting for this for a long time it seems like.  I hope that Starz doesn't ruin the show, it's one of my favorite shows.

Well, I am trying to catch up on laundry today so I need to go work on that.  I will be back tomorrow to post some pictures of the Pink Punk Bags I have completed in the past few weeks.  Hopefully blogger with let me post them...last time I tried I wasn't able to post pictures for some reason.

Playing Catch up...

I feel like I am really out of the loop, off my game, etc...  Ever since the kids got out of school 2 weeks early, things have been kind of chaos around here and my routine is all out of whack!  I picked up my kindle last night for literally the first time in over 3 weeks.  I even got a new book last week and I just started reading it last night.  My usual reading time is in the mornings with coffee and at night before bed, but I got caught up watching Stargate: Atlantis and I was staying up sometimes until 1:30am and then sleeping later in the mornings so that just shot my reading all to heck.  Normally I get into a book and I take my kindle and read any time I have a chance, but since I didn't have time to really get into anything I wasn't even doing that.  I sat last night and read for about an hour and a half so I am into the book now and hopefully getting back into my reading groove!  I have a handful of new books for series that I have been reading that I want to read now so I have to get back into it or I will be behind!

I made this yesterday in the hopes that it would jump start my reading and I guess it worked!   I was going to work on the last order I had fabric for and when I pulled out all the stuff I realized that I didn't have any white zippers and I needed 2 for the Kari Sling Bag that was on my schedule.  I have to make a zipper run today so I can get back on track.  I also got a shipment of fabric yesterday evening so I have work for the rest of the week now.  Anyway, back to the kindle sleeve...I bought three sample packs of Bari J scraps a few months ago.  Basically she takes the bits of leftover fabrics from the projects that she makes with each line and she packages them together with  buttons and little trinkets and sells them.  I got 3 different lines for like $6 each, they each had probably a yard of fabric in them.  Most of the fabric I used for this was from the Art Journal line, but I mixed in a couple fabrics from one of the other packs so I would have a little more variety.  I wanted something different and I was looking on Pinterest for ideas and ran across a gathered one like this and decided to try it out.  I LOVE it, I think it's my favorite of all the ones I have made and I have made 6-7 of them for myself now!  I love the summery colors.  I love making these when I have time, they are so fun and it's nice to have something new every once in awhile.  I still have a bunch of the fabric left too since the sides are pretty much made with scraps!

This past weekend since we got all caught up with Justified we decided to have a movie weekend.  We watched Piranha, Drive Angry, Clash of the Titans and Black Death.  Ok, I have to say that if we had seen the 1st two in 3D they may have been better!  I liked both of them, but Piranha was SUPER cheesy and I think that 3D would have saved some of it, but some of it was way over the top ridiculous.  That said, I really really like Steven R. McQueen, who is, in fact THE Steve McQueen's grandson.  He is also one of my favorite characters, Jeremy, on The Vampire Diaries.  He saved it for me and to be fair most of the cheese was not directly related to his story!  Drive Angry was less cheesy, but still would have been better in 3D.  I am a Nicholas Cage fan so I will pretty much watch anything he is in!  Clash of the Titans was on HBO last week so we set the DVR for it, I liked it, I can't believe it took me so long to see it though.  Black Death was not the best movie but it has Sean Bean in it and we watched it just after this weeks episode of Game of Thrones.  Speaking of Game of Thrones, Sunday is the finale and then the next week True Blood starts!!!  I can't wait, it's been a LONG year waiting for this season.  They are promising that Sookie and Eric fans will not be disappointed with episode 3 or 4, I can't remember which one, but they better live up to the book is all I have to say about that!

I have to make a list so I don't forget anything at Walmart and I won't have to delay work another day because I don't have everything I need!  I am going to my sisters tomorrow so all the kids can have a day to play be away from the house for a bit.  I am going to take my camera so I can take some pictures that aren't related to sewing!

Have a wonderful day!!

Books vs. their TV counterparts...

I LOVE books, but I also love TV and Movies.  I also like TV Shows and Movies that are made from books, but I can say that in almost 100% of cases (that I have seen and read), the books are much better than the TV/Movie versions.  I am sitting here thinking about it and the one case where I like the TV version better is The Vampire Diaries.  Don't get me wrong, I liked the books but I really like where the series has gone.  Pretty much the only thing that is similar to the books is that Stefan and Damon are brothers, they are Vampires and they both have a thing for Elena.  Even in the beginning that is the only thing that was similar other than the name of the town and the names of her friends.  Pretty much everything else is different.  Elena did live with her aunt, but she had a little sister not a teenage brother.  Alaric and her aunt were NOT an item.  NONE of her friends became vampire and Tyler was a class A jerk, but not a werewolf...there were NO werewolves in the books.  Now it seems like if you have vampires then it only stands to reason that you need werewolves too!  In the books I was on Team Stefan from the beginning...in the TV series I am very Team Damon, and because of that I am SO looking forward to Season 3!

We have been watching Game of Thrones on HBO and I am reading the book at the same time.  This is probably one of the best adaptations from book to screen that I have seen so far.  Some of the conversations are almost word for word and they are sticking very closely to the plot lines and even some of the minor stuff that is in the book.  Now, that said, last nights episode had a scene in it that was VERY much not in the book and it was very annoying.  So far the book has not been graphic as far as love scenes go, the TV show has added some to those scenes, but it is HBO and we know they are going to do that.  What I don't like is that they added a same sex couple to the story and wrote a whole scene into the story that just isn't there in the book.  The scene itself wasn't really graphic, just implied, but the fact that they added it at all makes me angry!  Loras is called the Knight of Flowers, but that has nothing to do with his orientation and in the book he is not gay and Lord Renly is not implied to be gay either, in fact, neither of them get much mention in the book at all really.  WHY did they need to add this to the story?  When they do this then it's something that they have to keep following through and it distorts the real story as they go down the line.

Point in case....Lafayette, in True Blood.  I am not pointing out that he is gay, and this has nothing to do with that fact.  Lafayette, was in fact, gay in the book.  Notice I said book and not books though!  Lafayette was killed in the final scene of the 1st book and his death sets up the story for the 2nd book.  Alan Ball decided NOT to follow this part of the book and now 3 seasons later we have a full running storyline for a character that is not part of any of the following books.  Now, we know that Alan has take many liberties with these stories and that's a whole other post!  My point is, that when you add in your own story or change something seemingly minor, it's something you have to follow through and when you do follow through it impacts the story that is true.

I am almost done with the 1st Game of Thrones book and I have to say that things are happening that will change this story in a BIG way.  I just hope that HBO and the people running the show see it through and stick to the story otherwise they will have a mess on their hands, at least as far as the readers are concerned.  George R.R. Martin doesn't care who you connect with as a reader and that's how it should be to make a good story, I think.  If you care about someone and they are killed you want to keep reading to make sure that they are avenged, etc...I will just say this because I don't want to spoil it for the watchers, I have connected with a handful of characters as I have read through this book and I am at the 92% mark of the book and 2 of those characters have been killed.  I don't like to see them gone, but it progresses the story and that's how it has to be. From what I hear, from another reader, George isn't done with the killing so I know there is more in store!  I just hope that the show stays true to the book, so far so good really.  I am anxious to see how they are going to fit it all in 10 episodes, I am not sure why they aren't doing 12, but oh well...

I have to say that although True Blood has strayed from the books quite a lot, it's still one of my favorite shows.  Book 4 was my favorite of all the books and so I hope that Season 4 does it justice.  It looks like he is sticking with the plot of Eric losing his memory so that's a step in the right direction.  We'll just have to see if he follows through!
