I want to see...

These movies in the theater this summer...

That last one is Magic Mike and I think it's pretty obvious why it's on my list (Matt Bomer, Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey and they didn't even have Alex Pettyfer in the photo!)

What are your "must see" movies for the summer?

Movie Marathon starts tonight!

Jake and I haven't watched a movie in what seems like forever, but he has a 4 day weekend so we are going to be watching a lot of movies this weekend.  Here is a list of what we are going to try to knock out this weekend

  • Mission Impossible 1-4
  • The Immortals
  • The Sitter
Ok, that seemed like more before I started listing them!  Technically it's still 6 movies though so that's plenty for one weekend I think.  I also have to work tomorrow so I can't stay up too late tonight.

Here a couple Instagram pics from the last couple days...

My pretty French Pedicure...my toes are way too chubby though!

I snagged these new polishes from Walgreens today for $1 each, gotta love a good deal like that.

I like to take pictures of books that I want to look up for my Kindle and this George RR Martin is going on my "to read soon" list!  I have been reading Amanda Hocking books for about almost 3 years now and I love them...it's SUPER cool to see them in print through a big time publisher!

I LOVE finding avocados for so cheap...I got 4 to make guacamole with this weekend.

Well, I am off to paint my nails while Jake and the kids finish watching something, then I get to decide what movie to watch tonight!

Have a great evening...

Vacation is almost over...

I am not quite ready to go back, but I am ready for the house to be quiet again!  I haven't gotten much done around here, but I was just planning to relax and read so it's all good.  I have sewed a bit and I managed to go to the movies yesterday.  I went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  It was excellent.  Daniel Craig is brilliant as Mikael Blomkvist, actually, all the acting was superb.  I loved the book and the Swedish version of the movie was good too, but not having to read subtitles in this was made it better for me!  I am ready to read the book again, but I am going to wait until after the 1st of the year to start it.

I cheated and adjusted my Goodreads goal to 123 instead of 130.  I am only at 121 right now, but I may still be able to make it.  I think I am going to set my 2012 goal at 125 and see how that goes, it's probably a little high still but since I am not going to be doing custom sewing work I may have a little more time.

We have been getting a bunch of our shows watched while Jake is on vacation.  We watched all of the 3rd series of Misfits, all of Terra Nova, we have 1 episode left to be caught up to Once Upon a Time and we are going to get caught up with Grimm tonight and tomorrow.  We also have Cowboys and Aliens to watch tonight.  I am kind of in a Daniel Craig kind of mood so I am looking forward to that one!

Here is a little something I worked on this week when I felt the need to sew.  I am practicing blocks for the quilt I want to make in 2012.  This is a pillow top for Bailey, the picked the blocks and all the fabrics for each one.  I need to work on making sure my seam allowances are all 1/4" so that they are all the same size blocks.  We decided to do these wonky since they sizes were all a little off!  I still have to finish the back and get a pillow for it.  Now the boys have decided that they each need one too so they have picked out block styles.  I will probably work on them next week since I am going to be spending the next few days reading!

Ok, well I am going to get off here so I can watch Nathan Fillion on The Nerdist....

Have a great day!

Movies that make you think...

Have you ever watched a movie that your couldn't stop thinking about?  I have, but only a couple of times really.  I am talking about something maybe controversial or one of those vague movies that has you reading reviews, message boards, etc...  I think about a lot of movies, but on a different level if that makes any sense.

If you know me at all, you know that if I like an actor I will watch just about anything that they make!  I just finished the most recent series of Doctor Who and I wanted to watch Matt Smith is something different so I got  a movie that he made just prior to filming his first season as The Doctor.  The movie is called Womb and to say it's slightly uncomfortable to watch is an understatement.  It stars Matt and Eva Green.  Now I don't care for Eva since watching Camelot, but I figured I would suffer through her to see Matt.  In actuality, Matt is only in about 1/3 of the movie maybe less.

Now if controversial subject matter makes you uncomfortable this is not the movie for you.  Also if you don't like artsy/indy films it's not for you.  Also, this is going to be a spoiler so if you think it's something you may watch, you might want to quit reading this now!

Playing Catch up...

I feel like I am really out of the loop, off my game, etc...  Ever since the kids got out of school 2 weeks early, things have been kind of chaos around here and my routine is all out of whack!  I picked up my kindle last night for literally the first time in over 3 weeks.  I even got a new book last week and I just started reading it last night.  My usual reading time is in the mornings with coffee and at night before bed, but I got caught up watching Stargate: Atlantis and I was staying up sometimes until 1:30am and then sleeping later in the mornings so that just shot my reading all to heck.  Normally I get into a book and I take my kindle and read any time I have a chance, but since I didn't have time to really get into anything I wasn't even doing that.  I sat last night and read for about an hour and a half so I am into the book now and hopefully getting back into my reading groove!  I have a handful of new books for series that I have been reading that I want to read now so I have to get back into it or I will be behind!

I made this yesterday in the hopes that it would jump start my reading and I guess it worked!   I was going to work on the last order I had fabric for and when I pulled out all the stuff I realized that I didn't have any white zippers and I needed 2 for the Kari Sling Bag that was on my schedule.  I have to make a zipper run today so I can get back on track.  I also got a shipment of fabric yesterday evening so I have work for the rest of the week now.  Anyway, back to the kindle sleeve...I bought three sample packs of Bari J scraps a few months ago.  Basically she takes the bits of leftover fabrics from the projects that she makes with each line and she packages them together with  buttons and little trinkets and sells them.  I got 3 different lines for like $6 each, they each had probably a yard of fabric in them.  Most of the fabric I used for this was from the Art Journal line, but I mixed in a couple fabrics from one of the other packs so I would have a little more variety.  I wanted something different and I was looking on Pinterest for ideas and ran across a gathered one like this and decided to try it out.  I LOVE it, I think it's my favorite of all the ones I have made and I have made 6-7 of them for myself now!  I love the summery colors.  I love making these when I have time, they are so fun and it's nice to have something new every once in awhile.  I still have a bunch of the fabric left too since the sides are pretty much made with scraps!

This past weekend since we got all caught up with Justified we decided to have a movie weekend.  We watched Piranha, Drive Angry, Clash of the Titans and Black Death.  Ok, I have to say that if we had seen the 1st two in 3D they may have been better!  I liked both of them, but Piranha was SUPER cheesy and I think that 3D would have saved some of it, but some of it was way over the top ridiculous.  That said, I really really like Steven R. McQueen, who is, in fact THE Steve McQueen's grandson.  He is also one of my favorite characters, Jeremy, on The Vampire Diaries.  He saved it for me and to be fair most of the cheese was not directly related to his story!  Drive Angry was less cheesy, but still would have been better in 3D.  I am a Nicholas Cage fan so I will pretty much watch anything he is in!  Clash of the Titans was on HBO last week so we set the DVR for it, I liked it, I can't believe it took me so long to see it though.  Black Death was not the best movie but it has Sean Bean in it and we watched it just after this weeks episode of Game of Thrones.  Speaking of Game of Thrones, Sunday is the finale and then the next week True Blood starts!!!  I can't wait, it's been a LONG year waiting for this season.  They are promising that Sookie and Eric fans will not be disappointed with episode 3 or 4, I can't remember which one, but they better live up to the book is all I have to say about that!

I have to make a list so I don't forget anything at Walmart and I won't have to delay work another day because I don't have everything I need!  I am going to my sisters tomorrow so all the kids can have a day to play be away from the house for a bit.  I am going to take my camera so I can take some pictures that aren't related to sewing!

Have a wonderful day!!
