News!!

I had my interview today and they hired me, I did my paperwork and once I am in the system I can start working!  In case you are new to my blog, I am going to be a substitute teacher.  This is a whole new world for me.  Other than my Macy's job that lasted a month, of which I only actually worked about 20 hours (the reason I quit!) I have been a stay at home mom for just at 12 years now.  Another thing that makes it something new is that, while I have kids in public schools, I never actually attended public school.  I home-schooled my Sophomore year, but all my other schooling was in Christian Schools.  This doesn't include my years of college.  Anyway, the public school system will be a new experience for me.  I am nervous, but really excited at the same time.

My Pink Punk Boutique Big Cartel store will be closing on the 30th of this month.  Technically I am going to shut it down late on the 29th since that's when I will be charged for my next months fees.  This means if you have something custom that you want to order you need to do it before midnight (CST) on October 29th or you will not get it.  I will no longer be taking custom orders.  I am going to re-open my Esty store and sell pre-made items from there, but I won't be taking any custom orders.  I will re-route my URL (pinkpunkboutique.com) to my Etsy store for all the business cards I sill have floating around out there.

I have been having major issues with my main fabric supplier and that was a, if only minor, factor in my decision to stop doing custom orders as well.  I have been getting wrong fabrics, not the right cuts, fabric that is sold out even though they show it in stock.  It's nice to be able to offer custom work, but most people don't realize how much more time consuming it can be, especially if the customer isn't sure what they want.  I spend a lot of time each week online finding fabrics, emailing links, putting together fabric combinations, etc...  And then when my fabric supplier messes up my order I have to start all over again!  I think that I will do some special sales to offer custom work an a very limited basis once the new year rolls around.  Maybe a couple order a month at first come first served when I offer.

I am keeping my Pink Pink Boutique Facebook page, so that's where you will find out when and if I decide to offer custom work.  I will also post any sales that I have in my Etsy store.

In other news...I got these in the mail yesterday

How's that for 2 books on the opposite end of the reading spectrum?!  I started the Graphic Novel today and I like it so far...it's very different from what I am used to.  So far it's following the show, but I know it's going to veer off some and some of the characters in the show aren't in the graphic novels.  My friend Heather was a contributor in the Sew to Swap book and she is one of the best swappers out there so I had to get this one!  There are some super cute projects in this...maybe I will actually have some time to make some of them once I get all my Pink Punk orders done!

Well, I have to go finish an enormous OU Sooners bag so I can deliver it tomorrow.  Have a great afternoon!
